Actor Charlie Sheen charged with assaulting wife
By Richard James.
US actor Charlie Sheen has been charged with assaulting his wife Brooke Mueller in an incident on Christmas Day.
The 44-year-old appeared in court on Monday to face one felony charge and two misdemeanour counts relating to the incident involving the couple at a holiday home in Colorado last year.
Mrs Mueller has, however, now called for the charges against the Two and a Half Men star to be drooped.
Attorney Yale Galanter told the court: "Brooke would like the case dismissed and the charges against Charlie to go away."
Reports claim Sheen held a knife to his partner's throat in the disagreement.
On Monday, judge James Boyd lifted a "no contact" portion of restraining order which had barred the actor from speaking to or having contact with his wife.
Sheen spent much of Christmas Day in a police cell following his arrest.
